Flood Insurance Information

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The entire state of Florida is in a flood zone.  Depending on where you live in the state, you may be in a higher risk zone than others. You can determine which flood zone in which you live by visiting the FEMA Flood Map Service Center page.  Regardless of which zone you’re in, you’ll need to know a few things. Here are some common questions asked by homeowners and business owners. An answer to each question is below the question.

FAQ:

Q: What chances does my home or business have of being damaged by a flood?

A: Your home has a 26% chance of being damaged by a flood during a 30-year mortgage.  Comparatively, your home has a 9% chance of being damaged by a fire in this time.  Odds are the same for businesses.

Q: I’m in a low-risk flood zone.  Do I need to worry about flood damage?

A: Yes.  More than 1/3 of all claims paid by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) are for houses and businesses that are in low-risk areas.

Q: When should I get flood insurance?

A: Unless you are closing on a home purchase, you will have to wait 30 days from the date of the purchase of a policy to benefit from coverage.  Prepare ahead of time.

Q: Are there any discounts if I buy a flood insurance policy through the same agency through which I bought a homeowners policy?

A: Yes. You qualify for a homeowners discount if you purchase your flood insurance policy through us.

Q: What does a flood insurance policy through Ramey Insurance Agency provide me?

A: A flood insurance policy with $250,000 for the building and $100,000 for personal property costs a maximum of $1.18 per day.

Testimonials

Working with Christine at the Ramey Agency has been a great experience. We have a retirement/rental property and it's not always easy to maneuver insurance/coverage matters from out of state. We only wish they had an agency in NJ!

Michelle and Shannon worked so hard, after I was involved in a car accident, and fought the at fault's insurance. They went above and beyond. They made a VERY stressful situation basically disappear. They handled everything for me. When they say "Nationwide is on your side" it is 100% true.

I have known Terri and the agents at Ramey Insurance for many years. They have a very dedicated staff that is invested in giving the best service to their clients. They have a very friendly and professional atmosphere in their office that makes customers feel welcome. The staff takes the time to get to know their clients so that they can provide the appropriate coverage at a competitive price. I highly recommend Ramey Insurance.
